Follow the Trail of Lewis and Clark Cruising on the Island Spirit Columbia River Eastbound Itinerary ( reverse for Westbound ) DAY 1 Fly into Portland ( airfare should plan for noon arrival or earlier ). Move to Astoria with Box Lunch stop. Visit Astoria Column. Welcome Trolley ride. Astoria, Oregon. Welcome Dinner. (L,D) DAY 2 Today we explore the local area. We'll visit the Columbia River Maritime Museum with 44,000 square feet of exhibit, and then it's off to Fort Clatsop ( named for a local native tribe by Lewis and Clark ). Afternoon cruise to St.Helens, Oregon. (B,L,D ) DAY 3 Morning coach to Mt.St, Helens Visitor's Center. The devastation of 230 square miles of lush forest can still be seen 20 years later. Meet your vessel in Washougal, Washington. Today you visit the Bonneville lock and dam. Cruise the Columbia River Gorge and into the town of Cascade Locks. Tonight we sleep in the original lock chamber in this area. Evening entertainment. ( B,L,D ) DAY 4 Some morning cruising to Hood River. We'll visit spectacular Multnomah Falls and enjoy a stop at the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center. Afternoon cruising to our dock at Arlington. Quite evening. ( B,L,D ) DAY 5 Coach to Pendleton, Oregon. Morning tours to include underground city tour, Tamastslik tNative Cultural Center, and Woolen Mill. Later today, meet the Island Spirit at "Hat Rock". River Cruising to our evening port- Richland , Washington. ( B,L,D ) DAY 6 River cruising and transit locks. Enjoy the flow of the river as we cruise today. We're on the Snake River now. The canyons and bluffs are spectacular. It's a peaceful day with locks, food and good friends. We'll transit 3 locks as we move up this river. You will enjoy all of them in daylight cruising and an evening at New York Island Anchorage. ( B,L,D ) DAY 7 Arrive the Clarkston- Lewiston area. We've cruised the river from the Pacific Ocean to Lewiston, Idaho. Approximately 450 nautical miles. Today, enjoy a special maritime activity which features Hells Canyon, Jet boats and a captain's farewell dinner. ( B,L,D ) DAY 8 After breakfast, crew farewells - depart for airport - flights home. ( B ) Trip Details: Trip includes all shore excursions as listed. All meals on board vessel. Portland airport pickup with lunch. Columbia River Interpretive Center or Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center. Mount St.Helens excursion. Maryhill Museum. Multnomah Falls and Vista House (river overlook). Bonneville Lock and Dam tour.
